REDUCE
Randomized trial Evaluating first time shoulder Dislocation: sUrgery vs Conservative carE (REDUCE)
Brief description: Shoulder dislocations, specifically anterior dislocations can leave individuals with a heightened risk of recurrent shoulder dislocations and increases the risk of degenerative arthritis. Although there is evidence to suggest that early surgical intervention may decrease the risk of recurrent instability, it is unclear in whom this early intervention should be applied. The primary objective of the REDUCE pilot trial study is to assess the feasibility of a definitive trial to determine the effect of arthroscopic soft tissue stabilization vs. non-surgical intervention on the risk of recurrent anterior dislocation rates and functional outcomes in patients presenting with a first-time dislocation over a 24-month period.
